I took the late Sunday afternoon flight back to Frankfurt. On both the onward and return journey there was no passport check. The queues were small and the security check uncomplicated. This ease of travel across countries in Europe (that are within the Schengen area) is more surprising when one compares it with the situation of air travel inside the U.S., where waiting, stripping and explaining is the norm.
It also meant that this pattern – of flying to a city on Friday evening, and returning on Sunday – was, after this Milan experience, an attractive option for Wife and me to explore.
Summer is just around the corner…..
