urinals

A few hundred feet from the Jazz Tent, in a corner that leads to the street with food stalls, are the makeshift toilet cabins and vespasiennes, the street urinals. The sanitation system appears to be working: queues here are smaller than those at the food stalls.

My mind wanders to India, where public sanitation hasn’t improved much since Gandhi exhorted the virtues of clean latrines. Can this system be used there? Has it been tried?
