Let us return to the art versus nature question: do we, as a culture, give more attention to imitations and reproductions (art) than to the source (nature) itself? If yes, does this inclination towards man-made artifacts point to self-love, a love of human beings above everything else?
Why is this self-love question important? Because it may have a clue to the current state of nature and environment. Has our deep-seated preference to man-made creations led a large portion of humanity to mostly ignore nature to the point of negligence? Does this lie at the heart of why our environment today is the way it is?
